WORD OF THE WEEK

February 23, 2026

The Head, Not the Tail

Dear friend,

God requires that we obey Him. If we obey God, then He will lift us up to walk in leadership positions. God will help us to see the world and the people around us as He sees them.  If we obey God, then we are in step with God and His plans.

And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you will only be above, and not be underneath, if you listen to the commandments of the Lord your God which I am commanding you today, to follow them carefully.

Deuteronomy 28:13 (NASB)

When Jesus came to earth, He gave authority to His disciples to do miracles:

Jesus summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every sickness.

Matthew 10:1 (NASB)

Did Jesus have authority?  Yes.  Does Jesus give His authority to those who love and obey Him?  Yes.  But having Christ’s authority empowers us to serve, not be served!  Look what Jesus said:

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”

Mark 10:45 (NASB)

Are you obeying God in your choices this week? Remember, God has called you to walk in His authority and serve others.

Praise God!

Pastor Jo emphasizes that a deep belief in God’s love is the foundation for trusting His care and provision. We are encouraged not to become "familiar with doing without," because those who seek the Lord are promised that they will not lack any beneficial thing. Drawing a beautiful comparison, the excerpt notes that while we may think often of those we love most, God’s thoughts toward us are even more numerous than the grains of sand. By recognizing that God is constantly mindful of us, we can confidently talk to Him in prayer, offering our faith and speaking His Word. Ultimately, because we are the focus of His unending affection, we can surrender every concern to Him, resting in the absolute certainty that He cares for us and will lead us into a life of abundance.

Pastor Jo teaches that God is active and alert, watching over His Word to ensure it is performed. Just as Romans 10:10-11 emphasizes that belief in the heart and confession with the mouth lead to salvation without shame, our speech serves as a spiritual "pass key." This key, backed by the Holy Spirit, has the power to open any closed door in our lives. According to Isaiah 55:11, God’s Word never returns void; it always accomplishes His purpose and prospers wherever it is sent. When we speak Scripture with faith, we are using God’s own authority to move forward, knowing He loves to hear His children declare His truths. By aligning our mouths with His promises, we unlock a future where His Word never fails.
